Kofu — 3 nights

Old historic castles and Shinto shrines dominate the sightseeing in Kofu, a city fringed by mountains on all sides.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Takeda Shingen Statue and Takeda Shrine. Take a break from Kofu with a short trip to Fuefuki Togenkyo in Fuefuki, about 36 minutes away. The adventure continues: step into the grandiose world of Kofu Castle, admire the verdant scenery at Shosenkyo, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Kimpu, and stroll around Maizuru Castle Park.

Stockholm, Sweden to Kofu is an approximately 23.5-hour combination of flight and car. You'll lose 8 hours traveling from Stockholm to Kofu due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Stockholm in June, plan for somewhat warmer nights in Kofu, with lows around 21°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 5th (Sat) to allow time for the car ride to Takayama.

Takayama — 6 nights

Hidden high up in the Japanese Alps, Takayama remained largely cut off from the rest of Japan for centuries, allowing the local culture to grow in relative isolation.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Wine Tours & Tastings and Thermal Spas. Venture out of the city with trips to Yuki no Otani (Snow Wall) (in Tateyama-machi) and Matsumoto (Taisho Pond, Pond Tashiro, &more). There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at Takayama Jinya, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, see the interesting displays at Hikaru Museum, and get answers to all your questions at Takayama City Hall.

Drive from Kofu to Takayama in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and bus; or take a train. Traveling from Kofu in June, expect nights in Takayama to be about the same, around 22°C, while days are somewhat warmer, around 30°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Fri) to allow time to travel to Takasaki.

Takasaki — 4 nights

Famous for its Daruma dolls, Takasaki serves as a great stopover town during a trip through Japan.
Step off the beaten path and head to Haruna Shrine and Myogi Shrine. Yaizu — 4 nights

Yaizu is a city located in central Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.As of September 2015, the city had an estimated population of 138,542 and a population density of 1970 persons per km². You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Oigawakako Yachoen and Kotonomama Hachimangu. Change things up with a short trip to Hamaoka Sand Dune in Omaezaki (about 54 minutes away). There's much more to do: shop like a local with Yaizu Sakana Center, go for a walk through Kiyagawa Ridge, take an in-depth tour of Yaizu City History and Folklore Museum, and stroll around Ishizuhama Park.

Getting from Takasaki to Yaizu by car takes about 4.5 hours. When traveling from Takasaki in June, plan for a bit cooler days in Yaizu, with highs around 26°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 23°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 19th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
