Vacations in Rota may not be as popular as trips to its larger neighbor, Saipan, and the World War II site of Tinian. Nevertheless, the small island of around 2,500 residents offers some interesting opportunities for wildlife spotting, as it is home to several endangered species, including the Mariana fruit bat.
