Visit Putra Mosque to see one of the city's important places of worship, built to accommodate a congregation of 15,000. Constructed using rose-tinted granite, the mosque's nine pink domes attractively punctuate the main building, with the reddish hue reflecting in the surrounding waters of Lake Putrajaya. Inside, the domes represent neat examples of deeply intricate Islamic patterns above a vast main prayer hall. Completed in 1999, the building has become the primary place of worship for Muslims in the city. The mosque welcomes all visitors, but note you must be in proper attire: dress modestly (no shorts) and women must cover their heads. With our custom trip planner, Putrajaya attractions like Putra Mosque can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Not only it is beautiful but so calm
  • As a non Muslim visiting this place, I was super impressed with the building itself, well worth seeing in it's own right. But I was also stuck by the people, those who work here, those who worship here, and even the impact those people had on the visiting tourist. We often form opinions based on media, both press and social. I suggest to everyone, visit this place, look around you, talk to the people, and form your own opinion. People quietly attending to their faith, (no matter their religion) with humility, reverence, respect and friendly tolerance... deserve our respect and have truly changed my opinion . Worth noting, is that this is a place of worship, and although it welcomes tourists, you will sometimes encounter periods of n hour or so when it is closed to tourists for prayer. Wear appropriate clothing, in particular a long dress or pants, if not they will provide robes for you to wear during your visit.
