Create an itinerary including Kellie's Castle
Brought to fame by the award-winning movie "Anna and the King," Kellie's Castle was built by a Scottish farmer named William Kellie Smith as a gift for his family. Unfortunately, Kelly Smith died while on a trip and the mansion remained unfinished. Wall plaques provide both Malay and English explanations of each room, as well as the back story of the owner and his family. The castle and its grounds remain an excellent opportunity for photography enthusiast and history buffs--the second floor even includes an incomplete tennis court. Stop by one of the nearby cafes for refreshments and snacks after your tour. Quickly create a custom-made itinerary for Batu Gajah using our trip planner.

  • It was full house that day. It was normal since it was during the Chinese New Year's break. The place is as beautiful as what they say it is. The building might look ancient, but it never fails to attract my attention ( I guess everyone else's too). The architecture can still be seen. Even the ruins kept my eyes from blinking. I was amazed. The rooms ( if I imagined them in good shape) and the building itself portrays the love that once existed. The scenery from the top of the castle was amazing. The unfinished castle is still standing proudly. A lot of things to read ( for the history of the owner and the building itself) One need to be there oneself if one wants to experience the feeling ( which I could not explained) of being there. All I did was keeping quiet while walking from one room to the other and just making sure my eyes are staring at every inch of the building.
  • It is like time fly back to the glory day of the castle owner Williams inviting you to join their party, you are welcome to walk in castle to anywhere as you like, to their bed rooms, wine room, store room and guests rooms, and the most fun part, walking at the rooftop. The weather here not so hot compared to city as nature surrounding the castle with a riverside in front of castle protecting from intruders. Really worth for a visit.
