Explore a set of atmospheric Hindu temples at Batu Caves. Located in impressive 400-million-year-old limestone caves, the temples were founded in 1891 by an Indian trader. Today, they have grown into a revered, iconic place of worship and one of the most visited Hindu shrines outside of India. Admire the 42.7 m (140 ft) high statue of Murugan, a Hindu deity, that marks the cave entrance, and head inside to see the attractive interplay of manmade and natural artistry. It's just very recently that Malaysia opened its borders to tourists that is why maybe there were only very few of us in Batu Caves but I liked it because I get to see it in more detail. First, it's free! No entrance fees and all. But for ladies, should wear longer skirts or pants. You will have to buy a skirt for 15 RM if you wear shorts or above knee skirts and wrap it around. You will get to see the monkey very close but be mindful if you are going to bring food or eat near them as they will try to grab your food too. If you want to go inside the temples, you need to take of your shoes. You can wear them when you climb the stairs but I saw some who are really taking off slippers though no shoes is mandatory inside only. The cave itself is such a wonder. But the surroundings needs more cleaning as the trash are all around the area. I am not sure why people don't through trash properly even if there are garbage bins around. Anyway, it was a good experience. You get to see a good glimpse of the city too.

Beautiful, spectacular and one heck of a climb. Lots of monkeys, please tread carefully. I went in the evening about 4pm so it wasn't hot, quite cool and was a lovely climb up 272 steps. Probably won't do it again but definitely something to do at least once in your lifetime.
