Create an itinerary including Kurobe Dam
Experience one of the most remarkable views of serene nature in the Northern Alps at Kurobe Dam. Listed as Japan's largest arch dam with a height of 186 m (610 ft), the graceful structure represents a daring engineering feat that claimed the lives of 171 people. Head out to the observation deck and hear the roar of gushing water as it creates a cloud of spray. Take a ride on an excursion boat to explore Lake Kurobe and observe the alpine plants, beech trees, and cold springs. The dam brings more than a million tourists each year between late June and mid-October, so plan your trip accordingly. Also, carry warm clothing, since the dam lies surrounded by 3,000 m (9,800 ft) tall mountains. • Stunning view from the top, but there's no way for disabled people to access the observatory (might have been there but I couldn't find one). Also, the electric bus is the only way to the top, and if you miss the last one at 5:35, there's no way to come back down. With that said, the view from the top makes up for it. Seriously recommend trying out their curry rice.
  • KorubeDam is Japan tallest 186m height and largest dam with capacity of 200 millions tons. It is indeed also one of the largest in the world and the view is spectacular. It took approximately 7 years to build. In fact, the first task in constructing the dam was to transport materials and tools to the secluded region by helicopter. Over 10 million workers were involved in dam construction over the seven years and the total construction cost at the time was 51.3 billion yen!
