Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden
Originally constructed for the private residence of "daimyo" (feudal lord) Naito in the Edo period, Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden has served as a public park under the Ministry of the Environment since its reconstruction after World War II. Tour the park to see its three main sections: a traditional Japanese garden dotted with ponds intercepted by islands and bridges; a symmetrically planned French garden; and an English garden with sweeping lawns and cherry blossom trees. Stop by the greenhouse to inspect the permanent and special exhibits of tropical flowers. Arrange to visit Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and other attractions in Tokyo using our Tokyo road trip planning site.

One of the most beautiful gardens in Japan! I love everything here, trees, birds etc. There is an entrance fee which is low for what you are going to see.

A park is an area of naturally occurring, semi-natural or planted space set aside for human enjoyment and recreation or for the protection of wildlife or natural habitats. Parks may consist of grassy areas, rocks, soil and trees, but may also contain buildings and other artifacts such as monuments, fountains or playground structures. There are also amusement parks which have live shows, fairground rides, refreshments, and games of chance or skill.

Wonderful, Japanese-style public park. You can enjoy different types of trees and flowers blooming year-round. If you intend to come here often, I recommend a one-year pass. Costs 2.000 JPY and is created on the spot. Currently (April 2021) you need to preregister through their website to enter the park (not necessary with an annual pass). Also features a nice Starbucks inside (currently drinks only served to go, but you can sit outside on a bench or on the lawn).
