One of Osaka's most recognizable landmarks, Umeda Sky Building is best known for its rooftop observatory, which provides panoramic views of the city. Completed in 1993, the building features two 40-story glass and steel towers linked by a bridge--which serves as the observation platform--173 m (568 ft) off the ground. The urban garden with walking trails and water fountains at the base of the towers serves as a popular recreation spot, while the underground gourmet market revives the atmosphere of the early 20th-century Osaka. Our Osaka day trip planning tool makes visiting Umeda Sky Building and other Osaka attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • Very nice place to go and take a look at Osaka from a different perspective. I'd recommend this place only if you are interested in taking a look at the Umeda area from high up. A bit pricey, though.

  • Impressive from the outside. We went for the “Christmas illumination” and it tuned out to be a bunch of stupid cardboard cutouts. 1500yen per person for that?! Over hyped and under delivered...

  • The place is really awesome. But even though it is huge, it is not possible to see it from the Osaka station. I was looking for this building using Google maps and following the sign, and it took me a lot of time to get there. There are some reparations woks on the street (for some years now) so it is not possible to follow the pat shown in the map, you have to go across a little passage on the street to get to the building (I followed a guy there because there were no more signs). Other than that, the building is really awesome.
  • One of the best views of the city. Admission is 1500 yen at the time of this posting (23 July 21). There is a Cafe that has a nice selection of world beers as well. Only downside is that it's in a relatively remote part of the city with few other attractions nearby.
