See the historical 15th-century stronghold of Odawara Castle, reconstructed in 1960 to its former glory. Surrounded by sakura (cherry) trees in the nearby park, the concrete castle contains a museum with a fine collection of ancient artifacts, weapons, and armors. The castle fell many times under siege throughout the centuries, but now the stout structure draws scores of tourists (as well as monkeys). Should you wish to purchase a souvenir, visit the nearby gift shops. Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a Odawara trip simple and quick.

You can walk to this castle from Odawara Station and you need to go in from the main gate as then you need to pass several gates and can feel the space of the area and not go in from the back side...

Compared to other castles, this one had so much to see as it is played quite an important part in Japanese History. There’s a lot of things to see inside the castle itself and plus you can go to the top of the castle and the view is really nice!!! I highly recommend going to this place most especially since it is quite accessible from Tokyo. Suitable for 2-3 hours, depending on how interested you are about learning about the castle’s history. I came in Winter so not much flowers bloomed, but I hear coming in Spring will be extra lovely!

The Castle was a great unexpected stop. The day after the October 2019 Typhoon. We where trying to get to Mt Fuji but do the the damage to the rail lines, Odawara was the very last stop south of Tokyo. Getting a chance to see a small town in Japan and by the see made it worth the try. The view the atmosphere was amazing.
