Head up the foot of the mountain to find a number of sacred places when exploring Togakushi Shrine Okusha. Visit the five separate Shinto shrines in three different shrine areas--known as the lower, middle, and upper--taking the time to walk between each of them, absorbing the relaxing atmosphere of the woodland, and learning about the stories behind the shrines as you go. With each of the three shrine areas located about 2 km (1.2 mi) apart, the walk between them can be tough, but richly rewarding for those able and willing. Arrived at Nagano 2 days after Typhoon Hagibis. Transport to Togakushi Shrine is easy by bus. There are a numbers of stops leading to some attractions such as Soba restaurant, Ninja museum and Kagami.... more

Beautiful. Visit in December or January for the perfect picture.

I love Togakushi Shrine in summer and autumn season but winter also has its special charm. You need to have a snow shoes and better with a stick so you can walk the way to the end of Okusha. We were told not to go because of God was move to the car park to away from the heavy snow. The whole journey took us around 2 hours. Then had the famous Togakushi soba. Highly recommended .
