Running alongside the Metoba-gawa River, Nawate Shopping District represents a stone-paved row of around 50 charming shops. During the 17th century, the street marked the border between the residences of the samurai class and the commoners on the opposite side. In present day, souvenir hunters have a range of interesting establishments to peruse, with shops offering antiques, curios, and knickknacks. Should you get hungry, explore options at the food stalls. Keep your eyes open for the statues of samurai frogs--popular photograph points that have earned the strip its nickname of "Frog Street."     It is just a short street in the city. Few old buildings selling souvenirs. Nothing to shout about frankly. There is a shrine at the end of the street. It was nice with some beautiful trees changing.....  more
