Create an itinerary including East Coast Trail
Step into the wilderness with a hike along one of the many paths that make up the 540 km (360 mi) East Coast Trail. With over 265 km (165 mi) of the trail developed with signage, maps, and difficulty levels, you can choose one of the 24 paths to suit your ability. Begin from the historic city of St. Johns and head north or south to discover a dramatically diverse landscape of lighthouses, abandoned settlements, caribou herds, and icebergs, all accompanied by spectacular views. Be sure to include the natural sea-driven geyser nicknamed “The Spout” into your itinerary. Or, head to Cape Spear to stand at the easternmost point in North America. Over 30 communities are scattered throughout the trail, providing spots to take a break, have a meal, and meet the locals. • Hiked the whole trail over 2020 summer, it was absolutely worth it. Some trails are better than other, and not always well marked however, if you download AllTrails most of the paths are on there.

  • The East Coast Trail Association is a great charity that ensure we can enjoy a great hiking experience and take care of the beautiful East Coast Trail by minimizing its impact on the natural environment for protecting our heritage for future generations.
  • I loved the place, I was there in the Winter, me and a co worker saw some iceberg in the water, fresh air and nice view. Canada is a fantastic county.
