Great, compact set of excavated ruins with very few people. We took a boat down the New River for about 45 minutes to the ruins. That was really fun and we saw lots of wildlife and countryside...

Amazing place. Listen to the howler monkeys in the canopy above and climb the ancient pyramid. Arrived from San Pedro by fast boat, bus and slow boat. Amazing journey across the sea and through the mangroves.

Very interesting tour. We had a great guide who told us plenty about the ruins. We were able to climb to the top of one of the temples on modern stairs around the back. It’s a big city that hasn’t been fully explored and is only partially open to tourism. We reached it by water, but I’m not sure if that’s the only way to get there. We even saw howler monkeys resting in the heat.
