CIty of Ramen

A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
Bring the kids along to Jigokudani and Otaru Canal. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Sapporo: Oku no Yu (in Noboribetsu) and Royce' Chocolate World (in Chitose). And it doesn't end there: stroll around Odori Park, take a stroll around Sapporo Underground Shopping Centre Aurora Town, get engrossed in the history at Historical Village of Hokkaido (Kaitaku-no Mura), and meet the residents at Maruyama Zoo.

Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Kids will appreciate attractions like Tokyo Disneyland and Meiji Jingu Shrine. When in Tokyo, make a side trip to see Tokyo DisneySea in Maihama, approximately Maihama away. There's still lots to do: admire the landmark architecture of Tokyo Tower, get a sense of history and politics at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Buildings, stop by Akihabara, and enjoy breathtaking views from Tokyo Skytree.

Traveling by flight from Sapporo to Tokyo takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. Traveling from Sapporo in December, you will find days in Tokyo are warmer (14°C), and nights are a bit warmer (4°C). Nagano

Near the confluence of the Chikuma and Sai rivers, Nagano combines historic sites with nearby forested alps dotted with shrines.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Snow Monkey Resorts and Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park. Change things up with these side-trips from Nagano: Onsen Resorts (in Yamanouchi-machi) and Nozawaonsen-mura (Ogama & Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort). There's lots more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Zenko-ji Temple, contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Kagami, stop by Yawataya Isogoro Honten, and don't miss a visit to Togakushi Shrine Chusha.

Kick off your visit on the 24th (Sun): take some stellar pictures from Hakone Ropeway, admire the masterpieces at The Hakone Open-Air Museum, then admire the masterpieces at Hakone Museum of Art, then get some fabulous bargains at Gotemba Premium Outlets, and finally take in nature's colorful creations at Gotemba Kogen Toki no Sumika. On the 25th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: don't miss a visit to Owaku-dani Valley, contemplate the long history of Hakone Shrine / Kuzuryu Shrine Singu, then explore the activities along Lake Ashinoko, and finally take some stellar pictures from Mikuni Toge Observatory.
