One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.
Gyeongbokgung Palace and Cheonggyecheon Stream are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get some historical perspective at Changdeokgung Palace and Dongdaemun Gate (Heunginjimun). One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Republic of Korea, Gyeongju combines a rich cultural heritage with mountain and coastal scenery.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Sun): contemplate the waterfront views at Bomun Lake, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Bulguksa Temple, then appreciate the history behind Seokguram, and finally hunt for treasures at Jukdo Market. The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Take a break from the city and head to Street Kart Kyoto and Kyoto Kimono Rental Sakura. Shop till you drop at Nishiki Market Shopping District and Kyoto Station Building.
