The main town on the largest of Korea's islands, Jeju has a volcanic landscape protected by UNESCO.

Busan

The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Yeojwacheon Stream and Taejongdae. When in Busan, make a side trip to see Bogwangsa Temple in Gimhae, approximately Gimhae away. Next up on the itinerary: take in the views from Gwangandaegyo Bridge, stroll around Yongdusan Park, stroll the grounds of UN Memorial Cemetery, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Beomeosa Temple.

Traveling by flight from Jeju to Busan takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of ferry, taxi, and train. Expect a daytime high around 28°C in May, and nighttime lows around 16°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Mon) so you can go by car to Gyeongju.

Museum Without Walls

One of the most popular tourist destinations in the Republic of Korea, Gyeongju combines a rich cultural heritage with mountain and coastal scenery.
Kick off your visit on the 10th (Tue): appreciate the extensive heritage of Tongiljeon, examine the collection at Gyeongju National Museum, then explore the activities along Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, and finally contemplate the long history of Cheomseongdae Observatory. On your second day here, steep yourself in history at Cheonmachong Tomb, then pause for some photo ops at Daereungwon Tomb Complex, and then contemplate the long history of Gyeongju Historic Area.

You can drive from Busan to Gyeongju in 1.5 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or take a train. When traveling from Busan in May, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Gyeongju: temperatures range from 18°C by day to 18°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 11th (Wed) early enough to travel to Seoul.

Seoul

One of east Asia's major cultural and financial centers, Seoul boasts five World Heritage Sites and a huge selection of museums, temples, shrines, palaces, parks, gardens, and glass-and-steel skyscrapers.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Yeouido Park and Banpo Hangang Park. Next up on the itinerary: walk around Yeouido Hangang Park, browse the exhibits of Seodaemun Prison History Hall, get to know the fascinating history of Changgyeonggung Palace, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Bongeunsa Temple.

You can fly from Gyeongju to Seoul in 3.5 hours. Other options are to take a train; or drive. While traveling from Gyeongju, expect somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Seoul, ranging from highs of 28°C to lows of 16°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 15th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel back home.
