The city's historical central plaza, Stary Rynek is home to an array of colorful and interesting buildings. Established in the 11th century, it has undergone numerous transformations, including severe damage during World War II. Its reconstruction was rapid and successful, and today the large square boasts a number of fashionable bars, cafes, restaurants, and stores. Some of its most striking buildings include the Renaissance-style old town hall, weighing house, arsenal gallery, guardhouse, and the row of 16th century merchants' houses. Weather permitting, you can enjoy a Polish beer and plateful of pierogi (Polish dumplings) on one of the bustling terraces. • The square is currently being renovated which takes away some of its beauty. It’s going to be finished in 2023 and it will be a better experience to see it then.

  • Staro Miesto (old square town) is like other same type of squares in Poland very nice. The history for Stary Rynek startet around year 1253. Poznan town hall is also called Rathusz. Daily at noon...

  • What a wonderful visual experience, all the buildings look as if they belong in a fairy tale. The tragedies that took place here are now eulogized by the amazing reconstruction of this whole district. Highly suggest spending some time here exploring the streets, shops and restaurants.
  • Beautiful huge square surrounded by a set of buildings with different architecture styles (Gothic Town Hall and houses that have been continuously destroyed and rebuild), some small stands and a few cafe's and bars. Definitely the most beautiful part of town
