Learn about the city's Chinese community of tin miners at Ipoh World at Han Chin Pet Soo, a museum situated inside a former clubhouse. Established in 1893, the clubhouse provided the miners with a place where they could gamble, smoke opium, entertain "dancing girls," and socialize with colleagues and friends from back home. Take a comprehensive and informative guided tour of the museum, see the clubhouse history brought to life through dioramas, photos, and period artifacts from the 19th and 20th centuries, and learn about the tin mining process. Reserve your tickets in advance, as the number of tours per day is limited. This was the highlight of our Ipoh day trip. A little gem of an effort to preserve history and let the public appreciate the past as lived by the Tin mining magnates of Perak. Well done Ipoh world! more »

Really interesting place to learn about the history of the tin mines and also about Ipoh development. We did the guided tour. You can go there directly, but it's better if you reserve the tour in advance in their website, specially in high season. The guide was really nice and knowledgeable, we enjoyed the visit a lot. It's a non profit organization and you can leave the donation you want in the post box near the exit door. The recommended donation is 10RM, but you can give more or less, depending of your budget.

A good place to learn about history of Ipoh and Tin mining industry. The guide will explain to you very thoroughly and you will get a chance to explore the club in mostly its original form. After the tour you can give them a donation of RM10 per person so that they could use it on restoration of the house and also as a token of appreciation .
