Takamatsu Castle, Takamatsu

Castle · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Step back in time in the heart of the city at Takamatsu Castle, one of Japan's three "castles on the sea." Admire the moats that give the castle its categorization, filled by drawing in seawater using the tides and sluice gates. Though most of the complex was destroyed during the Meiji period, reconstruction is underway. View the two original towers still standing, along with the moat and the walls. Afterwards, sit and relax in the castle's stone garden among cherry and pine trees. Put Takamatsu Castle on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Takamatsu trip itinerary builder.
