Observe unique combinations of Western-styled architecture and picturesque Japanese gardens at Kyu Iwasakitei Teien. Constructed by the founder of Mitsubishi's son, the property was seized after World War II; since then, it has lost most of its buildings, and now stands at half its original size. Don't let this put you off, however: the remaining historical structures, unusual in their composition, make the visit worthwhile. Inspect a heady combination of 17th-century Jacobean design and Islamic Renaissance patterns in the main house--a building also circumnavigated by a veranda, and furnished with a colonnade straight out of Appalachian America. Pause for some green tea, served inside the house, and take in your surroundings. Kyu Iwasakitei Teien is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , international travel planner Edition.
