Garden · Park
Take a pleasant stroll through Kairakuen Park, a large Japanese garden offering some natural relief from the urbane surroundings. Considered one of the three great gardens of Japan, the park's name translates as "a park to be enjoyed together," indicative of the fact that it was, unlike the other two, always designed to be enjoyed by the local populace. Opened in 1841, the gardens display white, pink, and red plum blossom trees, a bamboo grove, cedar wood, and a traditional Japanese building in the center. • Though it was barren in January the layout, grounds and buildings were wonderful. Very friendly and helpful staff! Thank you
  • Beautiful place with a lot of nature and flowers. Much more massive that you would expect. Probably makes it worth a trip to Mito if its during the plum blossom or cherry blossom season. This photo doesn't do it justice, but you can kind of see how big it is at least.
