Following a climb up a long flight of rough stone steps, admire Isaniwa Shrine, a 17th-century structure built in the rare hachiman-zukuri style. According to legend, the shrine occupies the site where Emperor Chuai and Empress Jingu often bathed in one of the oldest hot springs in Japan. The shrine regularly hosts special events, including ceremonies like Shinto weddings and blessings of newborn children. The Shrine was situated near the Dogo Onsen Station, by walking up a flight of stone stairway to the hill top. A small one and we didn't tour in details. more »
