Great place to visit to get a feel for historic Japanese Architecture and streets. It's a beautiful neighborhood full of renovated old houses, shops and restaurants. It is extremely walkable and most of the streets are closed to cars at certain times. There are lots of great places to stay as well.
Small quaint town. Nice visit if you are in the area like Okayama. Nice place to walk around the canal and old homes. If possible, try to get there early morning to avoid tour bus groups. Also, visit Ohara Museum of Art. Very surprised in the selection. Didn't plan on staying long, maybe less than an hour. I think I stayed almost 2 hrs.
