Hotel New Otani Japanese Garden, Chiyoda

4.5
#12 of 473 in Parks in Tokyo
Garden · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
An oasis in the city with a large curving waterfall, Hotel New Otani Japanese Garden provides tranquility in the midst of a busy district of Akasaka, with its carp pond and meticulously manicured greenery. Part of the hotel, but accessible to outside visitors, the garden features neatly trimmed shrubs, a red arched bridge, and many benches to sit and relax on. Designed in the 1960s and accentuating its natural features, the garden was once part of the 400-year-old former royal palace. Admire the tea house and the small zen garden, with raked sand features and stones. • We had 2 Visits to New Otani within a month, so had ample opportunity to enjoy this Garden. Go when the weather is kind and take your camera. Delightful spot.  more »
  • Large garden on property to walk in, many beautiful ponds and waterfalls. There are a couple restaurants tucked in the back of the gardens as well.  more »

  • One of the best Japanese gardens that I saw. And waterfall is totally amazing. Will return to see red momidzi
  • A beautiful escape in the middle of metropolitan Tokyo. Masterfully kept and designed in a beautiful Japanese landscape.
