See a section of China's most famous structure at Simatai Great Wall. Originally constructed in the 6th century, this section of the World Heritage-listed wall underwent reconstruction during the 14th century; today, it measures 5.4 km (3.3 mi) long, separated into eastern and western sections by a lake and water town. Climb the many beacon towers for extensive views of the vast landscape on either side of the wall. Designed to keep invaders out, this section is much more accessible these days, with a cable car making exploration of the wall particularly easy.
