We just visited the site this January 2021 on our first trip to Belize. We were basically the only people there given the lack of tourists due to COVID-19. Awesome temples and park. Well... more »

Absolutely the "most memorable" experience of my 7-day visit to Belize is that of being at this site's "main pyramid" El Castillo which I would just describe as "breathtakingly impressive" not just... more »

Amazing Mayan Ruins at Xunantunich which in the Yucatec Maya language means “Stone Lady" are one of the hidden gems in Belize near to the Guatemalan border. At the entrance there is a shop with local crafts and drinks and a road leads you up to the plaza. Going through the clearing is an impressive sight as the area opens up and you see a variety if temple ruins. You can climb to the top of the temple and you have an amazing view of the valley and areas of Belize. You need at least an hour to walk around the area but can easily stay 2hrs. Another one of my favourite highlights of visiting Belize and well worth the trip from Belize City.

It's the first Mayan ruins we've visited and therefore can't compare to other places but we were impressed, especially at the main structure, which you can climb too. The view from up there is great! Also getting to this place is cool, because you have to board a hand-cranked ferry which crosses a small river.
